This 1963 Buick Wildcat convertible was acquired by the seller in 2016, and subsequent work included fitting 15″ American Racing wheels along with refurbishing the interior, replacing steering and suspension components, and refreshing the 401ci Nailhead V8. The car is finished in red over color-coordinated vinyl upholstery and is equipped with an Edelbrock carburetor, a Dynaflow automatic transmission, a white soft top, a red boot cover, chrome bumpers, power steering, and a center console with a tachometer. This Wildcat convertible is offered with partial service records and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in white, the car was repainted in red under previous ownership. Exterior features include a power-operated white soft top with a red boot cover as well as Wildcat badging, faux fender vents, chrome bumpers and trim, and polished dual exhaust outlets. The trunk and convertible top weatherstripping was replaced in 2018, and xenon headlights were installed in 2021 along with the replacement of the associated wiring. Bubbling in the paint is visible on the hood and can be viewed up close in the gallery below.
Alloy 15″ American Racing wheels use 1″ spacers and are mounted with 235/75 American Classic whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel drums. The steering box and shock absorbers were replaced in 2016. The seller states the power steering pump leaks at highway speeds if the reservoir is filled too much.
An interior refurbishment was completed in 2017 consisting of repairing the floor, installing sound deadening, repainting the lower dash, and replacing the carpets and seatbelts. The front bucket seats and rear bench were recovered in red vinyl joined by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. The seller notes the heater controls are hard to move and the horn and radio do not work.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel gauge. A 6k-rpm Buick tachometer is mounted in the center console forward of the gear selector. The seller states the speedometer was rebuilt and reset in 2018 at which time the speedometer gear and cable were replaced. LED instrument lighting is reportedly installed. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, though the seller reports approximately 12k have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 401ci Nailhead V8 was removed and repainted green in 2017, at which time the engine compartment was painted and the motor mounts were reportedly replaced along with the hood insulation. A 750cfm Edelbrock carburetor with an electric choke is fitted as well as a replacement alternator, a chrome air-cleaner assembly, finned valve covers, and a relocated power steering pump. Additional work in 2021 included applying silicone to the seals and greasing the pivot points, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Dynaflow automatic transmission. A fabricated exhaust system is fitted.
