As an accomplished racing driver, Carroll Shelby knew that light weight and agility went hand-in-hand with horsepower when it came to building a winning performance car. His original CSX2000 series Shelby Cobra debuted in 1962, pairing an AC “Ace” chassis with Ford's new compact small-block V8, showing the rest of the automotive world how to float across the scales yet hit like a heavyweight champ and look great while doing so.
Beginning in 1996, Shelby American began building the CSX8000-series Continuation versions of these desirable Cobras in rolling chassis form, with authentic style leaf spring suspension, disc brakes with dual-piston Shelby calipers, subtle but noteworthy safety enhancements, and original body lines. CSX8055 is an outstanding example of Carroll Shelby's timeless vision for sports car performance.
Complementing the classic slab-sided profile on this Cobra is Wimbledon White paint, front and rear bumperettes, Sebring wheels with black centers and stainless-steel spinners and Avon tires. The car has a spare Sebring wheel and tire with hold down in the trunk. The interior is covered in black leather and includes a heater/defroster, Shelby floor mats, and a tonneau cover to keep it protected.
Powered by a ROUSH 347cid V8 numbers-matched to the car and rated at 406 horsepower and 418 ft-lbs of torque, CSX8055's powerplant is updated with a Holley Stealth EFI system and a Harrison Expansion Tank; it is backed by a TREMEC TKO600-5-speed manual transmission. Electric Brake Assist adds a modern enhancement to the vintage blueprint.
CSX8055's rolling chassis was completed at the factory in July 2020. The drivetrain installation was done by V's Performance, and the completed car delivered in November 2020. CSX8055 has California SB100 Registration. With only 596 original miles, CSX8055 is available for $279,950.
