1956 Studebaker Power Hawk

This 1956 Studebaker Power Hawk is one of 7,095 examples produced in a single model year and was acquired by the seller in 2015. The car is finished in teal with a green roof over white upholstery, and power comes from a 259ci V8 paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. Features include an alternator, an electric fuel pump, an AM radio, a heater, lap belts, and an aftermarket center console. This Power Hawk is now offered with a factory service manual and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The Power Hawk was one of four Hawk models produced for 1956. Reportedly delivered from the factory in Seaside Green with a Glenbrook Green roof, this example is said to have been repainted in its current teal and green under previous ownership. Features include chrome bumpers, dual antennas, fixed B-pillars, fender-mounted front turn signals, and a hood scoop. Corrosion is noted in the trunk.

The green-painted steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with whitewall radial tires. A matching spare wheel with a Michelin tire is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.

The cabin features a split front bench and rear bench trimmed in white upholstery with a matching dash pad and door panels. Green carpets line the floors, and features include lap belts, an aftermarket center console, an AM radio, and Studebaker-branded floor mats. The radio and right turn signal do not work.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an engine-

turned dash and instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The tachometer, oil pressure gauge, and water temperature gauge are inoperable, and an under-dash aftermarket gauge pod is fitted. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 259ci Sweepstakes V8 was factory rated at 170 horsepower. An alternator is fitted, and a 2019 service reportedly included the installation of a new bell crank, front end seal, and gaskets as well as a rebuild of the carburetor. An oil change was performed in 2021.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a two-speed automatic transmission. An electric fuel pump is fitted.
