1954 Triumph TR2 Project

This 1954 Triumph TR2 is an early long-door project car which is powered by a later 1,991cc inline-four. The car was acquired in 1971 by the family of its previous owner in Kenai, Alaska, where it was driven for approximately a year before being put into storage and subsequently moved to Oregon in the late 1970s. The previous owners were members of the Portland Triumph Association, and the car was acquired from their son by the selling dealer in late 2019. The engine has since been made to run, though the clutch and brakes are not functional. This TR2 is offered at no reserve with PTA newsletters, a soft top with bows and side curtains, and an Oregon title.

Early TR2s featured small grille openings as well as long doors which extended all the way downward to conceal their rockers. This example is coated in gray primer, and the selling dealer notes the existence of filler and subpar bodywork in the front fenders.

The 1,991cc inline-four shows stamp #TS26427E and is believed to have been sourced from a 1958 TR3. Induction is via twin SU carburetors with chrome pancake air cleaners. The selling dealer’s shop has gotten the engine running, though the clutch and brakes are not functional.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Additional photos depicting the frame, floors, suspension, and other underside components are provided in the gallery. A walk-around video showing the engine running is viewable below.
