1953 Triumph TR2

This 1953 Triumph TR2 is finished in red over tan upholstery and is powered by a 1,991cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes fender-mounted mirrors, 15” wire wheels, rear bumperettes, a removable black soft top and tonneau cover, dual SU carburetors, and a Bosch 12-volt ignition coil. The car was reportedly refurbished during prior ownership, and work performed in preparation for the sale is said to consist of fluid flushes, rebuilds of the brake and clutch cylinders, and replacement of the tires, fuel cap, and battery. This TR2 is now offered with side curtains, wind wings, a tool kit, an instruction book, and a clean California title.

The car is said to have been repainted in its current shade of red around 2000 and features a chrome front bumper with overriders, fender-mounted mirrors, rear bumperettes, rear fender guards, and a replacement chrome fuel cap. The selling dealer notes that scratches on the left-front fender and on the left door have been touched up. A removable black soft top and tonneau cover are included in the sale along with side curtains and wind wings.

Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels wear two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 165-width Michelin XZX tires that show 2022 date codes. A spare is stowed in the trunk. Service performed by the selling dealer is said to include a brake fluid flush and a rebuild of the master cylinder.

The cabin houses fixed-back bucket seats that are trimmed in tan upholstery along with a matching dash pad and black carpeting. Appointments include rubber floor mats, a chrome passenger grab handle, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and battery status. The five-digit odometer is said to have been reset to zero during the refurbishment and now shows 8k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 1,991cc inline-four is equipped with dual SU carburetors, A-C Sphinx type air filters, and a Bosch 12-volt ignition coil. Service performed in June and July 2022 is said to include an oil change, a flush and re-seal of the fuel tank, and replacement of the fuel sending unit and battery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch master cylinder was reportedly rebuilt and the release cylinder, hose, and fluid replaced in preparation for the sale. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery.
