1945 MG TC 1.5L 5-Speed

This 1945 MG TC was purchased by the seller in 2016 and was subsequently refurbished and modified under current ownership. The car has been repainted in red with black accents over a red leather interior, and power is provided by a TF-sourced 1,466cc XPEG inline-four fitted with a Judson supercharger and mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a replacement rear end. This example is also fitted with dual pre-war MG bucket seats, an EXU-spec rear bumper, a stainless-steel fuel tank with tank-mounted taillights, a machine-turned dashboard and fuel tank side panels, a replacement tan Haartz soft top, and 16″ wire wheels. Additional modifications include a late-model steering box, Alfin aluminum brake drums, front Koni shocks, and a Laystall-Lucas aluminum cylinder head. This TC is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted in red under current ownership with black accents around the bonnet and doors, and exterior features include a badge bar mounted between the headlights, a lower badge bar with a fog light and a Lucas horn, wire headlamp grilles, a stainless-steel fuel tank with machine-turned side panels and side-mounted taillights, and an EXU-spec chrome rear bumper with overriders. The replacement Haartz tan soft top was installed under current ownership and is stored beneath a matching tonneau cover.

Chrome 16″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and are wrapped in 5.50-16 Blockley tires. Alfin aluminum drum brakes are fitted at all four corners, and a late-model steering box and Koni Classic shocks have been added up front.

The right-hand-drive cabin features pre-war MG bucket seats upholstered in red leather with matching door cards over tan carpets with red piping. The seats are equipped with red lap belts, and black leather boot covers are fitted to the parking brake and shift levers.

A wrapped banjo-style steering wheel fronts an engine-turned dashboard housing a driver-centered 6,500-rpm tachometer, a replacement passenger-centered 105-mph speedometer, and central auxiliary gauges. The speedometer was replaced during current ownership, and the five-digit odometer displays approximately 15 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The TF-sourced 1,466cc XPEG inline-four was installed by AMS Racing of Bossier City, Louisiana, and is equipped with a Judson MG-26 supercharger, a Laystall-Lucas aluminum cylinder head, and an aluminum tappet and valve cover. The battery was replaced and the fluids and compression were checked in July 2020.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a replacement rear end. Additional photos of the underbody are provided in the gallery below.
