This 1941 Lincoln Continental is one of 400 cabriolets produced for the model year and is said to have been refurbished in the 1990s before it was purchased by the seller in 2004. The car is finished in maroon over tan leather upholstery, and power comes from a 292ci L-head V12 paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, a tan soft top, rear fender skirts, and a rear-mounted spare tire. This Continental cabriolet is now offered with tools, a reference book, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The Continental was based on the Zephyr platform, and it was introduced for the 1940 model year. Updates for 1941 included the integration of fender-mounted parking lights and push-button door releases. This example is said to have been repainted in factory Volanta Coach Maroon in the 1990s and features a hood ornament, a retractable antenna, dual side-view mirrors, a tan soft top, quarter panel stone guards, rear fender skirts, and a top-hinged trunk. Imperfections around the windshield are detailed in the gallery.
The body-color steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings, and they are mounted with 7.00–16 Denman Super Safety bias-ply whitewall tires. A matching spare wheel is mounted under a body-color cover out back. The Continental rode on a 125″ wheelbase and featured front and rear transverse leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
The cabin features a split front and solid rear bench seat trimmed in tan leather upholstery along with matching door panels and color-coordinated carpets. Equipment includes a painted woodgrain steel dashboard, a clock, and a locking glovebox. The car is not equipped with a heater or defroster. The AM radio does not work, and the passenger door window does not fully raise.
The tan two-spoke steering wheel features a horn ring and a Lincoln-branded center cap, and it fronts a 110-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The fuel-level gauge is inaccurate. The five-digit odometer shows 13 miles, and approximately 500 miles were added under the seller’s ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 292ci L-head V12 was factory rated at 120 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. A replacement six-volt battery was installed in August 2023. An oil leak is noted.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. A replacement transmission pawl is said to have been installed in 2018, and the fuel pump was rebuilt under the seller’s ownership.
