This 1937 Fiat 500A Topolino is a short-chassis left-hand-drive example that was assembled at Fiat’s Lingotto plant in Turin, Italy. The car is finished in brown over tan cloth and features a 569cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Work completed in Italy approximately 10 years ago is said to have included disassembly and refinishing along with installation of an electric fuel shut-off, a main electrical system disconnect, and coil springs. The seller states that the engine has not been run in approximately three years due to coolant in the crankcase. This Topolino is offered at no reserve with period Italian number plates and registration documents, an Italian-language maintenance manual, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in brown with black fenders and features rear-hinged doors, stand-alone headlights, period Italian number plates, and a rear-mounted spare tire.
Steel wheels are painted to match the body and wear branded hubcaps as well as 15″ Vee Rubber radial tires with 2015 date codes. Four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes were standard equipment.
The cabin is trimmed in beige upholstery with matching door panels and sisal carpets. Amenities consist of bucket seats, an adjustable chrome rearview mirror mount, and a windshield wiper.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on the left. Chrome-ringed instruments in the painted dash include an oil pressure gauge, a speedometer, and an odometer reading 85k kilometers (~53k miles). Total mileage is unknown.
The 569cc side-valve inline-four is mounted ahead of the front axle and was factory-rated at 13 horsepower. An electric fuel shut-off and main electrical disconnect were installed during the earlier refurbishment. The seller states that the car was parked due to coolant entering the crankcase approximately three years ago, and the engine has not been run since.
The engine is linked to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Coil springs were added during the refurbishment circa 2010. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
