This Fiat 500A Topolino is finished in brown with black lower bodywork over black upholstery, and is powered by a 569cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional details red pinstriping, body-colored 15″ wheels, rear-hinged doors, sliding side windows, and a Weber carburetor. Acquired by the selling dealer in October 2022, this Topolino is now offered in Florida with a shop manual and an Illinois title listing it as a 1937 model.
Introduced in 1936, the Topolino, or “little mouse”, was designed by Dante Giacosa. This example is finished in brown with red pinstriping as well as black lower bodywork. Further exterior details include stand-alone headlights, a windshield wiper, rear-hinged doors, and a rear-mounted spare tire.
Body-colored 15″ steel wheels wear polished Fiat-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 4.00-4.25 Excelsior tires. The car features an independent front suspension, hydraulic shock absorbers, semi-elliptical rear leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl accompanied by beige door panels. Additional appointments include a body-color dashboard, sliding side windows, and a rear parcel area.
The three-spoke steering wheel is cracked and fronts an oil pressure gauge. The combination speedometer and odometer gauge is missing, and total mileage is unknown.
The 569cc side-valve inline-four is equipped with a Weber carburetor and mounted ahead of the front axle. Factory-rated output was 13 horsepower. An oil change and engine tune-up were reportedly performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
Chassis number 108013 and engine number 110458 shown on the data plate above are consistent with a 1947 Fiat 500A.
