1923 Studebaker Model EM Light Six Touring

   

This 1923 Studebaker Model EM Light Six is a five-passenger touring car said to have been refurbished under previous ownership and previously owned by the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, before it was purchased by the selling dealer in 2023. The car is finished in burgundy with black fenders over black upholstery, and power comes from a 207ci inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes rear mechanical drum brakes, a black soft top, chrome bumpers, cowl lamps, and a rear robe rail. This Series 23 Studebaker is now offered at no reserve with a Pennsylvania title.

The Model EM Light Six was produced from December 1922 to July 1924 and featured an all-new steel body. This example is finished in burgundy with black fenders and features chrome bumpers, a body-color radiator surround, running boards, and cowl lamps set into the windshield frame. The radiator surround badge is missing, and scratches in the paint are noted by the selling dealer.

The body-color steel disc wheels are mounted with 31×4″ Olympic bias-ply tires. The Model EM features a 112″ wheelbase and features semi-elliptical leaf springs at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by rear mechanical drum brakes.

The cabin features front and rear benches trimmed in black upholstery with black door panels. Tan carpets line the floors, and a robe rail is mounted behind the front bench.

The four-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel features hub-mounted controls ahead of a painted steel dash housing a Stewart 75-mph barrel-type speedometer, an oil pressure gauge, and an ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 207ci L-head inline-six features a Stromberg single-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 40 horsepower. An oil leak is noted after periods of sitting.
